Our aim is to try and see everyone within 2 working days and urgent cases the same day. All face-to-face GP appointment requests are triaged by a GP - this means that the GP decides if a patient needs to be seen face-to-face, and if so, by which member of the surgery team. The receptionist will ask for details of why any patient wishes a GP consultation - to help the GP decide if the patient needs to be seen, when, and by whom, if at all.
On a few occasions each year there will be a telephone GP surgery on a Saturday morning, as part of an area wide rota.
Patients who require regular monitoring e.g. blood tests, or chronic disease management appointments, e.g. asthma, can book these through reception. Most of the latter will be by telephone and not face-to-face.
Telephone Advice
The receptionists or dispensers may be able to help with general advice. If you wish to speak to your GP, reception staff may be able to put you through. If not, they will offer to put you on the GP’s list to be called.
Chaperone
If you would like a member of staff to act as a chaperone during your appointment please arrange this at the time of booking the appointment. Such requests are welcome but may limit possible appointment times. Read our full policy: Chaperone policy
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. Patients who repeatedly fail to attend booked consultations will be sent a warning letter and may, ultimately, be removed from the practice list.
