Identification may be requested when collecting prescriptions. Prescriptions (and other fees) can be paid in cash, by credit card or by cheque, but a cheque guarantee card may be required.
Dispensers are trained to dispense medications prescribed by the GPs . They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions , dealing with prescription enquiries and reconciling hospital discharge medication changes.
Patients on repeat medication may be asked to see a doctor or other member of the team at least once a year for monitoring and/or review of these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. If you decline nationally recommended monitoring then your medication is likely to be discontinued.
Please ensure, if asked, that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
