Non-urgent advice: Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8.30am-12.30pm & 3.00pm-6.30pm

You can also ring 01935 865104 between 12pm and 3pm. Phone lines are open Monday to Friday.

We do not accept faxed requests from patients or 'third parties' for repeat medication .

Non-urgent advice: Collecting your prescription

If we dispense medication for you (you are eligible if you live more than 1 mile from a chemist), you can usually collect your prescription from the Dispensary 3 working days after you have ordered it. This is due to Delays in Drug Deliveries outside our control.  If medication is not collected within 4 weeks they will be cancelled and put back into stock.

If non-dispensing, you can either collect the written prescription once signed by  GP or nominate a pharmacy to collect your medication from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

Nominated Pharmacy

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Non-urgent advice: Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicines, if we dispense your medicines then ask our dispensers.  But if non-dispensing then your local pharmacist can answer these. Pharmacists can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Non-urgent advice: What to do with old medicines

Disposal of old meds, we can take these for you BUT we cannot take Sharps Sharp collection or Controlled Drugs these can be taken to a Community Pharmacist

Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Non-urgent advice: Home Deliveries

We provide Home Delivery but this is for Housebound patients only and if you have no one else to collect your medication. Medication can not be left in a safe place if you are not at home because it has to be handed to the patient and signed for. If you have a query please contact the Dispensary team.

Non-urgent advice: Community Pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Non-urgent advice: Going Abroad

If you are going away please let us know in advance if you need extra medication. We also can provide up to 3 months worth of medication but only twice within the rolling year. This is guidance from NHS.  If away for longer than three months then you will need to source your meds from the country you are visiting.

Non-urgent advice: Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, the GPs will review the need for this, and any monitoring requried.  We will be in touch if you need to come in for a review.

Prescription Collection Timetable

When ordering medications please allow three working days for them to be authorised and/or dispensed.  Remember to take into account weekends and bank holidays.  If weekends or Bank Holidays please allow extra days as these do not count as working days.
